MAYOR’S OFFICE FURLOUGHS

  • Starting October 1 through March
  • Every Mayor’s Office employee, nearly 500 total, will take 5 furlough days

ASIAN HATE CRIME TASK FORCE

  • Created to
    • Build trust with residents
    • Develop relationships with victims
    • Increase collaboration with the community
  • 25 Asian American NYPD officers
    • Languages spoken include: Cantonese, Fukienese , Tagalog , Mandarin, Korean

REPORT HATE CRIMES

  • Call 911 to report a hate crime
  • Translation services are available
  • You will not be asked about your immigration status

HEARTWORK AGAINST HATE

  • New York City youth ages 10 to 18 eligible
  • Deadline for submission is Wednesday, September 30
  • Visit nyc.gov/heartwork for contest rules and application
  • CONTEST PRIZES
    • Winning artwork featured on digital displays citywide
    • Winners can also receive one of six cash prizes
      • First Place: $500
      • Second Place: $250
      • Third Place: $100 Honorable Mention (3): $50

NEW CLEANLINESS INITIATIVES FOR STREETS AND PARKS

  • DSNY restoring approximately 65 litter basket trucks
    • 24% increase from current level
    • Focus on the 27 neighborhoods that have been especially impacted by COVID-19 & areas that will see increased pedestrian traffic as employees return to the workplace
  • NYCEDC restarting CleanNYC
    • Will provide supplemental cleaning services in neighborhoods and parks through the end of 2020
    • Partnering with the Doe Fund, provider of employment, career training, and social services to homeless and formerly incarcerated individuals
  • City sponsored community cleanups Partnering with CBOs, elected officials, private sector Tools and logistical support will be provided

  • Daily number of people admitted to NYC hospitals for suspected COVID-19
    • Threshold: Under 200 patients
    • Today’s report: 75 patients[11.54% confirmed positive]
  • New reported cases 7-day average: [new metric]
    • Threshold: Under 550 cases total
    • Today’s report: 277 cases
  • Percent of people tested citywide who are positive for COVID-19
    • Threshold:Under 5% positive [formerly 15%]
    • Today’s report: 0.87%

  • Housing Court
    • is closed for most non-essential matters and that all pending proceedings are being administratively adjourned
    • New York City Housing Court are now only open for essential cases permitted by the court, such as landlord lockouts, serious housing code violations, and requests for emergency repairs orders. Other Housing Court cases are on hold.
      • Know that since March 16, 2020, all eviction proceedings in New York City are suspended indefinitely. For more information, please visit the NYC Department of Investigation (DOI).
      • Anyone with knowledge of City marshals attempting to execute on warrants of eviction can report this activity by calling DOI’s Bureau of City Marshals at 212-825-5953.
      • Call 311 or fill out the Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants Contact Us form if you are being threatened with eviction, harassment or need emergency help.
